About this event

GORU GORU is the first solo museum exhibition in France dedicated to Korean artist Seulgi Lee, spanning 25 years of her work at Frac Nouvelle-Aquitaine MÉCA, Bordeaux. Its title, meaning "a bit of everything" in Korean, reflects her pluralistic practice built on color, simple performative gestures, and the material language of everyday, vernacular objects. It highlights her long-term collaborations with traditional craftspeople, including nubi quilting masters in Tongyeong for her ongoing "Blanket Project U" (started 2014, translating Korean proverbs into quilted blankets), and features large-scale dancheong murals (traditional hand-painted Korean temple decoration) painted directly on the MÉCA's walls by Korean artisans. It runs October 9, 2026 to April 25, 2027, with a public opening October 8, 2026 at 6pm, alongside a companion show at the Seoul Museum of Art opening autumn 2026.
