The History of Korean Folklore & Women

Korean poet and scholar Dr Melanie Hyo-In Han gives a talk and Q&A on Korean folklore at 21Soho on 12 October 2026 (doors 7pm, talk from 7:30pm). The session focuses on three female archetypes from Korean mythology - the nine-tailed fox spirit Gumiho, the unmarried maiden ghost Cheonyeo Gwishin, and Princess Bari - framed as figures shaped by grief and injustice, and examines how these stories reflect the way Korean women have carried, released and transformed "han," the Korean concept of unresolved grief and injustice.
