DKGH-Filmfest 2026 "Heimat die wir in uns tragen"

About this event

DKGH-Filmfest 2026, themed "Heimat die wir in uns tragen" (the homeland we carry within us), runs December 4-6, 2026 at Metropolis Kino in Hamburg, focused on labor migration. It screens three films: "Drained by Dreams" (2025, Bangladeshi director, Fri Dec 4), the well-known Korean feature "Ode to My Father" (2014), tracing protagonist Duk-soo's journey from Busan through Germany to Vietnam over six decades (Sat Dec 5), and documentary "In the Land of Machines" (2025), profiling Nepalese workers in South Korea (Sun Dec 6). A panel discussion with academics and labor representatives, held in cooperation with Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung and ver.di, follows the Sunday screening. All screenings and the panel are free, organized by DKGH.
